PCS orders don’t care about your lease end date. Month-to-month availability means you’re not locked into a 12-month commitment — rare in Hillcrest, and a practical choice for active-duty timelines.

Cosigners welcome, no credit-score cutoff
E-1 through E-4 often have thin credit files. We look at overall payment history, not a single number. Cosigners and guarantors are always accepted — a parent, spouse, or anyone willing to co-sign.
Gated courtyard on a cul-de-sac
Controlled-access courtyard entry, on a cul-de-sac off the main through-streets. No on-site leasing office means no foot traffic through the building.
Assigned parking
Reserved uncovered ($60/mo) and covered carport ($80/mo) parking available. You’ll need a car for base, but not for much else — Walk Score 93 means daily errands are on foot.
A real neighborhood, not a base
Hillcrest is walkable, inclusive, and full of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and parks. When you’re off duty, you’re in one of San Diego’s best neighborhoods — not staring at a parking lot.

Hillcrest is one of San Diego’s most walkable neighborhoods. When you’re done for the day, everything you need is within a few blocks.
Food & drink
Dozens of restaurants within walking distance. Fish tacos at Oscar’s, ramen at HiroNori, craft cocktails at Uptown Tavern. You won’t eat on base twice.
Groceries & errands
Trader Joe’s, Ralph’s, and Whole Foods are all under a 10-minute walk. Sunday farmers market a few blocks east.
Fitness
The Anvil Gym (5.0 stars, 6 min walk), CorePower Yoga in The Hub, and Balboa Park’s trails for running. No base gym required.
Decompress
Balboa Park is a short drive — 1,200 acres of trails, gardens, museums, and the Zoo. Beaches are 11–14 minutes by car.
